We are locally located in Winnipeg. We have the ability to recover data from  hard drives that are suffering from firmware and  physical problems, We offer the latest data recovery technology and  clean room solutions for mechanically damaged hard drives.

We offer free advance diagnostic to all storage media. Just bring your storage media (hard drives, flash drives, SD cards, etc.) to our shop and we will employ all necessary diagnostic procedures, from PCB component diagnostics, PCB firmware diagnostic, Service Area diagnostic, platter surface and head crack inspection inside our Class 5 Clean Room. After the diagnostic procedures we will let you know the cost of recovering the data, and if you do not wish to proceed, there is no charge and you may simply have your disk back. We offer monthly payment plan depending on how quickly you need the data back.

We will test your storage device for free, confirm which problem it has then provided you with an email or phone quote to seek your approval first. We will always offer you the cheapest option that will get your data back. If you decide not to approve the quote we give you, there is no charge to you for our time and you may collect the storage media from us or pay a delivery fee for us to return it to you. We will return the storage media to you in the original condition. We always operate in an honest, helpful & ethical manner. We would love to help you!

The time required to recover the data can also vary due to many factors but can range from 2-3 days up to many weeks depending on the problem. On average, most problems we see it could take around 4-7 days.

HARD DRIVE RECOVERY


Level 1- "Logical failure"

Hard Drive is in good condition. There are no “clicking” sounds, and is recognized by the operating system.  The hard Drive motor is spinning, and all the internal parts are functioning correctly, but data or some of the data are missing. Hard Drive in logical failing states has a very high chance of recovery. This may be caused by the following:

Level 2 - "Drive Failure"

Hard Drive has some physical damage.  At this level, opening or performing operation to the hard drive is not yet necessary in order to recover the data. Hard Drives at level 2 “Drive failure” State have a generally good chance of data recovery, when employing the use of our data recovery equipments and extensive knowledge. Symptoms at this level include:

Level 3 - "Mechanical Failure"

Hard Drive has bad physical damage. One or more of the hard drive mechanism is not working correctly. There may be clicking or clunking noises due to stuck or faulty motor. Furthermore, the hard drive disc may have trouble spinning or might not spin at all. In order to recover data at this stage, a clean-room is required to disassemble the drive and replace or repair broken parts. Mechanical Failures can be caused by the following:

How long it will take?

The time needed to recover your data will depend on what the problem is and how the device responds to any temporary repairs (e.g head replacement, firmware adjustments or PCB modifications).

If your hard drive does NOT need a head replacement/clean room work,  the average time is 5-10 days or less for our Standard service (non-urgent cases). But if the heads are damaged, there is any damage on the disk platter/s, or after the drive is repaired it is working very slowly (during the disk imaging stage), it will take a lot more time. If you have a deadline you are working with, or need your data back by a set date, we recommend selecting the Priority or Emergency Service instead.

We will keep you informed of the time required and remaining. You can always upgrade from Standard to Priority  as needed. It is important to know that some data recovery jobs we work on can be done very quickly, while others can sometimes take weeks or months due to severe damage or rare spare parts needing to be ordered in.

How fast is the Priority Service?


In some straightforward cases, it may mean you get your data back in 2-3 days. In other cases, it may mean you get your data back in 1 week instead of much longer. If you pay for the Priority service, your data recovery request will be given the number 1 Priority, and we will work 24-hours a day, 7-days a week  to get your data back to you as fast as possible.

 Common reasons for SSD failures and data loss:

Solid State Storage devices are manufactured with one of three types of NAND flash memory:

  • Single-level cell (SLC)
  • multi-level cell (MLC)
  • triple-level cell (TLC)

MLC and TLC memory has more density, and therefore is less expensive, but is more prone to errors and also has fewer/erase cycles.

The durability of a SSD is measured in its write/erase cycles, or the number of times a block can be erased and re-written to before the block fails. A technique called wear leveling dynamically maps logical blocks to physical blocks, to prevent premature failure of any block from too many write/erase cycles. This, along with multi-channel flash microcontroller technology, adds to the durability of a solid state drive. But block failure is also one of the key reason for solid state drive data loss.

When a block can no longer retain data, or when data errors cannot be correct by the solid state drive's error correction algorithm, the drive's controller merely " select" another block. But when all spare block are used, your solid state drive will fail and you'll need SSD recovery services to recover your data.

On average, the Economy service may take 2-3 weeks or longer. It has no guaranteed time frame, some jobs may take longer as Priority/Emergency jobs are done first.

RAID DRIVES RECOVERY :  0, 1, 4, 5, 5e, 6, 10, 5+1, JBOD, X-RAID, etc.

RAIDs are devices that use multiple hard drives to act as one storage device, and have a multitude of possible configurations that can make recovery a very time-consuming process. Generally these require a custom quote, but as a rule of thumb, each drive will require a Level 1 to 3 recovery independently, plus a RAID diagnostic reconstruction fee will apply depending on the RAID configuration and number of drives. Because of the considerable amount of time that must be invested, the diagnostic reconstruction fee is non-refundable. However, the fee is waived if the recovery is successful.

Most common RAID failures are the member drive failure, typically the most common RAID recovery is the RAID 5 configuration. Most of the time one of the drives will fail and the redundancy from the other drive will take over, but due to most firmware configurations and in the process of a system reboot or a power interruptions, these arrays will likely fail to load. Most of RAID owner will try to troubleshoot the situation and call the manufacturer technical support and until all the troubleshooting methods are applied, at the end technical support will end up recommending a data recovery service. Data Recovery Terms & Conditions

Authorization and cost of recovery

a.) Truedata Recovery Solutions is authorized to conduct an evaluation of the media or data sent to determine the nature of the damage and provide a quotation for the recovery thereof, timing and estimated success rate. b.) The evaluation is free and no work beyond this evaluation will be charged without explicit client approval unless quoted prior to receiving the media. c.) A no recovery no charge policy is applicable, unless otherwise stated. d.) If the customer has already approved service based on the quote provided by Truedata Recovery Solutions, a cancellation fee of 20% of the quoted service fee will apply. If data is completely recovered, then full payment is required if the client cancels. e.) Parts may be required for the data recovery attempt. The client agrees to pay for donor drives (Advance payment required). Regardless of outcome. f.) The Client acknowledges that he/she is the legal owner, representative, or otherwise have legitimate rights to the property and all data contained therein.

Liabilities

a.) The Client acknowledges that the media/data/equipment you are making available to Truedata Recovery Solutions is already damaged that data recovery efforts can potentially result in further damage, and that Truedata Recovery Solutions is not responsible for this or any other type of damage, including damage to or failures of equipment or media furnished by Truedata Recovery Solutions. b.) Truedata Recovery Solutions will not be held responsible for any data losses related to repairs or other reasons. c.) There is no guarantee that all of the data on the device provided can or will be recovered. Given the nature of electronic data storage and recovery services, problems could arise and are not the fault of Truedata Recovery Solutions, but are coincidental and could surface at any time, even when the previous problem is corrected. d.) Truedata Recovery Solutions will not be held accountable for any charges related to business interruption or other liabilities that result from permanent loss of data, corruption of data or delayed delivery of recovered data. e.) To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Truedata Recovery Solutions be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages or any damages whatsoever, including, without limitations, damages for loss of use, business profits, business interruption, loss of business information or data, and the like arising out of or any way connected with the use or performance of the data recovery services, with the delay or inability to use the recovered data or product of data recovery services, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, even if Truedata Recovery Solutions has been advised of the possibility of damages. f.) Upon notification to customer about successful and unsuccessful data recovery the client has 30 days to pick up their hardware and data. After that Truedata Recovery Solutions takes no responsibility for the data or hardware left on its premises.

Client Confidentiality

Truedata Recovery Solutions agree to maintain strict Client confidentiality. All information, data and equipment handed over or recovered by Truedata Recovery Solutions shall be deemed confidential and proprietary to our Clients and shall not be disclosed to any third parties in any manner.

Payment

All prices quoted exclude GST & PST, shipping, bank charges or any other taxes or costs. Payment is due in full upon completion of successful recovery, prior to release of data (whether shipped, picked up or downloaded), unless terms have been approved.

General

Truedata Recovery Solutions cannot take responsibility for incorrect drives brought in by clients for data recovery. Full fees are payable for recovery done off drives brought in incorrectly by clients. It is expressly recorded that once the data as recovered has left the premises of Truedata Recovery Solutions the client accepts the due and proper performance of Truedata Recovery Solutions in its duties. Should the recovered data cease working for whatever reason after it has left the premises of Truedata Recovery Solutions then the client shall be liable for all costs incidental thereto. The Client is therefore urged to confirm the successful recovery of data prior to same leaving the premises of Truedata Recovery Solutions.
